Il film è un biopic dello psichiatra scozzese di fama mondiale Ronald David Laing e dei suoi colleghi di Kingsley Hall, nell'East London nel 1960. Il medico rifiutò fermamente le teorie tradizionali sulla disfunzione mentale, lavorando sull'idea che i sentimenti espressi dal singolo paziente o cliente erano conseguenza delle esperienze vissute piuttosto che semplici sintomi di qualche disturbo separato o nascosto.

The film is a biopic of the world-renowned Scottish psychiatrist Ronald David Laing and his colleagues at Kingsley Hall, in East London in 1960. The doctor firmly refused traditional theories on mental dysfunction, working on the idea that the feelings expressed by the individual patient or client were a consequence of lived experiences rather than simple symptoms of some separate or hidden disorder.
