Set ninety-seven years after a nuclear war has destroyed civilization, when a spaceship housing humanity's lone survivors sends one hundred juvenile delinquents back to Earth, in hopes of possibly re-populating the planet.

In seguito a una terribile guerra nucleare globale la popolazione del pianeta Terra è stata sterminata. Sono passati 97 anni e ciò che rimane del genere umano è una stazione spaziale, l'Arca, che si trovava in orbita al momento del disastro. Ma con l'aumento della popolazione, il deteriorarsi degli impianti di riciclo e l'imminente esaurimento di ossigeno, l'Arca non è più un posto sicuro. I rappresentanti del governo decidono così di inviare sulla Terra cento delinquenti, giovani ragazzi che intraprenderanno un viaggio molto pericoloso per constatare le condizioni del pianeta in modo tale che vi si possa tornare a vivere.

I the 100 riescono ad arrivare sulla Terra ma scopriranno di non essere soli, contrariamente a quanto credevano. Cercheranno in tutti i modi di restare vivi indagando sui segreti che il pianeta nasconde e cercando di instaurare una pacifica convivenza in un luogo dove non esistono leggi né autorità. Nelle ultime quattro stagioni i protagonisti hanno combattuto per sopravvivere, solo per vedere il mondo finire per la seconda volta.
La quinta stagione inizia sei anni dopo, con i nostri eroi ancora separati: la squadra di Bellamy nello spazio, Clarke a terra e centinaia di persone intrappolate nel bunker sottostante. Ma quando un'enorme nave da prigione scende sull'ultimo luogo rimasto sulla terra, i 100 devono riunirsi per reclamare la loro casa. Mentre due eserciti si stanno per scontrare, le alleanze cambiano, gli amici diverranno nemici e la marcia verso la guerra rischia di distruggere tutto ciò che rimane della razza umana.
I nostri eroi possono interrompere il ciclo o l'umanità è destinata a ripetere il passato? In questa epica battaglia per la sopravvivenza, una cosa è certa: non ci sono bravi ragazzi.
