The Last Kingdom
The year is 872, and many of the separate kingdoms of what we now know as England have fallen to the invading Danes, leaving the great kingdom of Wessex standing alone and defiant under the command of King Alfred. Against this turbulent backdrop lives our hero, Uhtred. Born the son of a Saxon nobleman, he is captured by the Danes and raised as one of their own. OPIS
Serial jest adaptacją cyklu "Wojny Wikingów" Bernarda Cornwella. Akcja toczy się w drugiej połowie IX wieku. Syn saskiego szlachcica, Uhtred (Alexander Dreymon), zostaje osierocony i porwany przez Wikingów, którzy wychowują go jako jednego z nich. Już jako młody wojownik obserwuje upadek kolejnych brytyjskich królestw i toczy ze sobą wewnętrzną walkę, zastanawiając się, kim tak naprawdę jest - Sasem czy Wikingiem. Pomimo lojalności wobec ludzi, którzy go wychowali, pragnie odzyskać ziemie swoich przodków. Dołącza do armii króla Alfreda Wielkiego (David Dawson) władającego Królestwem Wessex - jedynym, które wciąż potrafi stawić opór Wikingom.
