Les deux frères sont fâchés depuis dix ans. Malgré son état de santé médiocre et après avoir réfléchi à leur contentieux, Alvin décide d'aller voir Lyle dans le Wisconsin et entreprend un voyage de plusieurs centaines de kilomètres par ses propres moyens.
