Nel nuovo film Disney live action Dumbo, diretto da Tim Burton, Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) è una ex star del circo che al ritorno dalla guerra trova la propria vita sconvolta.
Il proprietario del circo Max Medici (Danny DeVito) assume Holt, insieme ai figli Milly (Nico Parker) e Joe (Finley Hobbins), chiedendo loro di occuparsi di un elefantino appena nato le cui orecchie sproporzionate lo rendono lo zimbello di un circo già in difficoltà.
