Description

Green Day avait déjà impressionné son monde avec 'American Idiot'. Ce groupe, dont on ne prédisait pas une si longue durée de vie il y a de cela une dizaine d'années, était parvenu à sortir un véritable concept album, emballant à la fois critiques et public, pour solder 6 millions d'albums vendus. 'American Idiot' aurait pu être le point culminant de Billie Armstrong et ses boys. '21st Century Breakdown' semble prouver le contraire en montant la barre encore un peu plus haut. Encore décliné sur le thème du concept album en trois parties, Green Day prouve toute sa vitalité à travers des titres hyper-péchues, un peu plus courts et aux thématiques tournant le dos à l'ère George Bush. Arriver à mêler de la sorte conscience politique et énergie rock est sans doute le meilleur gage de maturité pour ce "vieux" groupe de rock. La balance des titres et leur concision est extrême. Cette fois, c'est sûr, il sera difficile de faire mieux au prochain coup...
