"2001" is a story of evolution. Sometime in the distant past, someone or something nudged evolution by placing a monolith on Earth (presumably elsewhere throughout the universe as well). Evolution then enabled humankind to reach the moon's surface, where yet another monolith is found, one that signals the monolith placers that humankind has evolved that far. Now a race begins between computers (HAL) and human (Bowman) to reach the monolith placers. The winner will achieve the next step in evolution, whatever that may be.

2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) 4K Remaster in 1080p, encoded with x265 in HEVC and AAC 5.1 English, with subtitles!
Encoded in 10 bit color at CRF 18.0, from a Blu-ray source, for the highest quality possible.

NOTE: My previous encode of this was based on an early release after the 4K became available where a scene fadeout was missing at around 33:40, when the Russian dude sets down his drink. This would essentially be a REPACK, but since I labeled my previous encode "RM", when it should have been "RM4K", the release name is different and I don't have slap REPACK on it. Thanks to @monisriz for pointing out the flaw.
