Battle Of Britain Three Days That Saved The Nation - GR[TGxDoc]

The series features accounts from the pilots, ground crews and members of the public who had first-hand experience of the battle that raged above Britain’s skies during the summer and autumn of 1940.



As the title suggests, the series takes a close-up view of the conflict by honing in on three days which played a crucial role in proceedings.



Viewers will be taken into a west London bunker which played a key role in tracking the Luftwaffe’s attacks on 15 August, and hear the diary entries of Joan Fanshawe, a plotter in the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force.



We hear the account of William Hopkin, another teenager, who shot down an enemy bomber on the same day,Shifting the focus to 30 August, the RAF’s most intense day of conflict of the entire battle, the documentary tells the story of the armourer Ronald Pountain.



And in the third episode, viewers find out how the air force’s fighter pilots thwarted Hitler’s Luftwaffe on 15 September, with a planned German invasion just days away.
