Thanks to the rising popularity of the PhoneDroid?a device which features augmented reality (A.R.)?the age of advanced technology has finally reached Tanegashima. On that island, Central Tanegashima High's Robot Research Club is about to have their club disbanded. Despite their predicament, Kaito Yashio, one of only two members in the Robot Club, couldn't care less and would rather play a robot fighting game all day. His counterpart, the reckless club leader Akiho Senomiya, ignores Kaito’s apathy as she strives to keep the club from being disbanded by completing their giant robot.
One day, Kaito discovers a mysterious A.R. annotation titled "Kimijima Report." It contains instructions involving locations all across the island?and warns of a conspiracy involving the entire world.
Robotics;Notes Elite is the improved version of the original Robotics;Notes, released for the PlayStation Vita in 2014. The VN is almost identical to the original, but has the following changes / improvements:
- The presentation is objectively better, with using some animated bits from the anime where appropriate to present some shots better than the original CGs could. It also improved models over the original and thus it ends up being a lot better visually than the first iteration of Robotics;Notes.
- Phase 01 has changed quite a bit between the two versions. R;N E cut off some dialogue and the scenes that came with it (though nothing major), and it also removed some of the protagonists' thoughts. However, it also added quite a lot of thoughts in certain scripts, so it evens out in the end. Supposedly, these changes were done to improve pacing of the first Phase.
- Phase 02 - 11 have also had very, very minor typo fixes, and you can occasionally see 1-2 lines added here and there in Elite, while also others removed. This was also an effort to improve pacing, however the changes to the script are so minimal that it really does not alter the experience whatsoever, which was not the case for Phase 01 where it could be argued that the pacing was significantly improved.
- Phase 12 seems to have changed drastically between the two versions. The start of this Phase is similar between the two versions but they diverge from each other quite a bit at the end where the presentation was changed for the better, but the plot remains the same in both two versions.

Robotics;Notes Elite Steam Improvement Patch Version 1.0 (As of November 16, 2020)
* Script fixes - Corrects countless mistranslations, continuity errors and other translation flaws. The entire script was checked line by line, and around one-third of all lines have been changed.
* Typography improvements - Displays documents, tweeps, geotags, the backlog, and basically any and all text in a nicer font with better formatting.
* Translated videos - Pretty much every video containing text in the game has been translated—or had its original translation improved. Additionally, there are optional karaoke subtitles for openings and endings—with the option to select between Japanese + English song subtitles, Japanese only, or English only.
* Translated CGs - Contains new translated versions of most CGs. This includes a number of CGs that were translated in the original Steam version, which have been replaced with variations that are both visually improved and better-translated. In addition, the phase title cards now feature added translations for the Japanese titles. (This is not to be confused with the English titles: every phase actually features two titles, one in English and one in Japanese, and they’re always totally different.)
* Mouse support - Fully implemented mouse support in ROBOTICS;NOTES ELITE.
* Added auto/skip buttons - As part of the mouse support implementation, were designed and added auto/skip buttons, just like the other Science Adventure PC games.
* Fixed skip function - A bug regarding the implementation of the “skip” function was fixed. In the newer ports of ROBOTICS;NOTES ELITE, the skip function was totally broken. Even when set to “Read text only,” it would skip lines at random, regardless of whether or not they’ve been read before.
* Save game compatibility - Patch can be installed over the Steam version of the game without breaking existing saves.
