Варианты мастеринга:

Период DECCA (1964 – 1970)

1. Мастеринг London Records

Германские и французские диски с каталожными номерами, начинающимися с 800 и 820. Прямая оцифровка (flat transfer) пленок, подготовленных компанией MFSL для аудиофильской коробки винилов. Миксы в оригинальном моно или оригинальном «широком» стерео, без шумоподавления и чистки. Эти же миксы используются для японских дисков серий P33L, P25L и POCD с номерами, меньшими 1930. Японские версии, как правило, немного «подкручены».

2. Мастеринг АВКСО 1986 года

Диски с каталожными номерами, начинающимися с 844 или же американские версии, обозначенные 1986 USA Remaster, а также японские диски POCD с номерами, большими 1930. Ремастерированные и ремикшинованные исходные пленки. Большинство стерео треков ужаты почти в моно или заменены на моно версии.

3. Ремастер АВКСО 2002 года

Диски, обозначенные 2002 EU Remaster или 2002 USA Remaster. Новый ремастер, принимаемый большинством за «универсальную» версию каталога. По большому счету, представляет значительное улучшение в плане качества звука (особенно самих ранних альбомов). Но не всеми воспринимается однозначно, т.к. часть треков была перемикширована, использованы не те мастер ленты, местами агрессивная эквализация и шумоподавление и т.п. Этот же ремастер на японских дисках 2006 года.



Период Rolling Stones Records (1971 – 20xx)

1. EMI-Toshiba, WEA-Atlantic

Всего 5 дисков, выпущенных до подписания контракта с CBS. Это Tattoo You (CP35-3032), Undercover (CDP 7 46024 2), Rewind (1971-1984) (CP35-5021), Rewind (1971-1984) (7 90176-2) и Still Life (Target) (39113-2). Flat transfer мастер лент, подготовленных для винилов соответствующих альбомов.

2. Мастеринг CBS

Для альбомов от Sticky Fingers (1971) до Flashpoint (1991), включая сборники и синглы CBS. Для альбомов до Steel Wheels (1989) очень близко к flat transfer, минимум цифровой обработки. Раньше ценился любителями «теплого лампового» звука. Но не для всех альбомов мастеринг сделан одинаково хорошо. На аппаратуре среднего уровня диски могут звучать «мутно». Австрийские и Японские диски используют один и тот же вариант мастеринга (за исключением Exile On Main Street и Emotional Rescue, для которых существует незначительная разница). Steel Wheels (1989), Flashpoint (1991) и синглы CBS 1989 – 1991 годов в оригинальном мастеринге.

3. Ремастер Virgin

Для альбомов от Sticky Fingers (1971) до A Bigger Bang (2005) и сборника Rarities (2005). Ремастер альбомов 1994 года от Sticky Fingers (1971) до Flashpoint (1991) до последнего времени считался лучшим в плане цифрового звука. Т.е. нашли пленки получше, почистили звук, «цифру» обработали, но «без фанатизма», без излишней компрессии, шумоподавления и проч. технических ухищрений. Альбомы от Voodoo Lounge 1994 до A Bigger Bang (2005) и сборник Rarities (2005) + синглы 1994 – 2006 годов представлены в оригинальном мастере.

4. Ремастер Polydor-UMG 2009

Для альбомов от Sticky Fingers (1971) до последних изданий Deluxe и серии From The Vault. Очень громкий мастеринг с сильной компрессией. Классический представитель brickwall mastering. Хорош для прослушивания в автомобиле или в наушниках в транспорте. В обычных условиях от него болит голова. Последние диски серии From The Vault не всегда компрессированы до DR6, но все равно звучат очень громко.

5. Японский трансфер 2013 – 2015 годов

Серия дисков от от Sticky Fingers (1971) до Dirty Work (1986) с номерами по каталогу типа Promotone UICY-40ххх. Новый flat transfer исходных мастер лент. В настояний момент считается самым лучшим в плане звука
