Una donna vive sola con l'unico figlio, un giovane timido e asociale che trascorre il tempo chiuso in casa. Quando nella loro città viene commesso un omicidio, la polizia avvia le indagini per trovare un colpevole e arresta il figlio della donna solamente perchè è privo di alibi. L'avvocato della difesa non è in grado di provare l'innocenza dell'uomo, così toccherà alla madre indagare per contro proprio per scagionare l'amato figlio.
Corea del Sud. Yoon Do-joon è un giovane affetto da dei disturbi mentali. Vive insieme alla madre in una piccola località. Un giorno, il ragazzo viene arrestato con l’accusa di omicidio: avrebbe ucciso una studentessa liceale, ritrovata con le mani legate dalla polizia.
Nelle indagini non sono emersi finora elementi che possano portare a una chiara risoluzione del caso, ma quanto gli inquirenti hanno in mano sembra possa bastare per archiviare la questione.
La madre di Yoon Do-joon è però fermamente convinta dell’innocenza del figlio: nonostante tutto, il ragazzo non potrebbe mai commettere un gesto così efferato. Nessuno però è disposto a darle credito. Così, si mette ad indagare per conto suo, intrufolandosi in casa di Jin-tae, un delinquente della zona che potrebbe essere il vero responsabile del delitto.
Lì troverà un oggetto, apparentemente una possibile arma utilizzata per uccidere quella ragazza: giunta in commissariato, non avrà però alcun riscontro. Jin-tae, anziché mandarla via, deciderà però di aiutarla nella ricerca della verità…
