Dopo aver terminato il suo lavoro con la Statua della Libertà, Gustave Eiffel è all'apice della carriera. Il governo francese vorrebbe che creasse qualcosa di spettacolare per l'Esposizione Universale del 1889 a Parigi ma Eiffel è interessato solo al suo progetto della metropolitana. Tutto però cambia il giorno in cui incrocia nuovamente il primo amore di gioventù. La loro relazione proibita servirà da motore per un progetto che cambierà per sempre il paesaggio della capitale francese: la Torre.
