Emily Gault arrives at the Carrell mansion determined to rekindle an old relationship with Guy Carrell, despite the disapproval of his sister, Kate. Guy overcomes his all-consuming fear of being buried alive long enough to marry Emily but soon becomes obsessed again, building a crypt designed to guarantee that he will not fall prey to his most dreaded nightmare. Trying to prove that he has been cured of his phobia, he opens his father's tomb and is shocked into a catatonic state. His worst fears are realized as he is lowered into a grave and covered over, apparently never to learn that the treachery of someone very dear to him was directly responsible for his predicament.

Description
The Premature Burial (1962), directed by Roger Corman, Kino Lorber remaster, encoded in 10 bit HEVC with AAC sound, including original theatrical stereo.

IMDb : https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056368/

Video encoded in two-pass 12.0 Mbps x265 10bit with the veryslow preset for archive quality image.

Note : More Corman Poe adaptations, in this case, the only one not featuring Vincent Price, but although that sounds like it should instantly make it inferior, it really isn't, it's one of the better ones, with a creepy atmosphere, a solid story, and very strong performances. Ray Millard in the lead is particularly good, and the art direction, as usual by Daniel Haller, is also pretty great, if not all that different from the two previous Corman-Poe films.

Guy Carrell is a 19th century British aristocrat with an obsessive fear of being buried alive. He suffers from a condition which will occasionally cause catatonic states similar to death, as did his father, who Carrell is convinced was buried alive, since he remembers hearing screaming from his tomb after his burial. His sister, however, claims this never happened. When Emily finally convinces him to marry her in spite of his medical condition and his obsessive fears, he tries to avoid the fate he so fears by building a tomb with many fail-safes and mechanisms to avoid premature burial, but his obsession and occasional cataleptic episodes finally alienate his wife, who convinces him to first destroy the tomb he's built, and then finally to open his father's grave to prove that he was indeed dead when he was buried. However, this causes a shock so severe that Carrell faints and seems to die from it, possibly leading to his greatest fear being realized...

This is a pretty decent looking remaster as such, not entirely clean, and a bit red-tinted, but basically fine. The stereo track is also ok. Too bad about the lack of commentary or even subtitles.
