Description
Delitto perfetto è un film del 1998 diretto da Andrew Davis, remake de Il delitto perfetto di Alfred Hitchcock.
Steven Taylor (Michael Douglas), magnate della finanza di New York, è scosso dalla scoperta della relazione segreta tra sua moglie Emily (Gwyneth Paltrow) e l’artista squattrinato David Shaw (Viggo Mortensen).
L’infedeltà di sua moglie, tuttavia, potrebbe creare una condizione favorevole per Steven, che si trova in una seria crisi economica e vorrebbe appropriarsi dell'immenso patrimonio di Emily.
Grazie all’ausilio di un detective privato, Steven scopre che David è in realtà un ex galeotto che finge interesse per le signore d’alta società, al fine di sottrarre loro denaro. L’uomo affronta il rivale e, in cambio del suo silenzio e di 5000.000 dollari, lo costringe a prendere parte all’omicidio di Emily.
Steven pianifica il delitto perfetto, facendo in modo che David possa trovare la chiave della donna per entrare in casa senza destare sospetti.
Quando arriva il giorno stabilito, tuttavia, David non ha il coraggio di uccidere l’amante e incarica un amico, conosciuto nel corso del suo soggiorno dietro alle sbarre, di compiere l’omicidio. Inaspettatamente, Emily si ribella ferocemente al suo aggressore e riesce ad ucciderlo, mandano in fumo l'intero progetto.
Steven, dopo aver rivelato ad Emily la vera identità di David, vuole negare al suo complice la somma pattuita ma scopre che l’ex galeotto ha registrato il loro accordo verbale, ed è pronto a denunciarlo alla polizia.
Steven architetta un diabolico piano per eliminare David, inconsapevole che l’ex amante di sua moglie ha intenzione di tradirlo. Intanto Emily, insospettiva dagli ammanchi finanziari e dal comportamento del suo consorte, inizia ad indagare su Steven e sulla misteriosa riapparizione della chiave nel suo mazzo di chiavi
