Storyline

Desperate to help her son, Rabiye Kurnaz, a housewife and loving mother from Bremen, goes to the police, notifies authorities and almost despairs at their impotence and in the end, against all the odds, something truly remarkable happens.

Murat ist weg. Inhaftiert im US-Gefangenenlager Guantanamo. Rabiye Kurnaz, Bremer Hausfrau und liebende Mutter, versteht die Welt nicht mehr. Geht zur Polizei, informiert Behörden und verzweifelt fast an ihrer Ohnmacht. Bis sie Bernhard Docke findet. Der zurückhaltende, besonnene Menschenrechtsanwalt und die temperamentvolle, türkische Mutter - sie kämpfen nun Seite an Seite für die Freilassung von Murat. Papier ist geduldig, Rabiye ist es nicht. Eigentlich möchte sie nur zurück zur Familie in ihr Reihenhaus und wird doch immer wieder in die Weltgeschichte katapultiert. Sie zieht mit Bernhard bis vor den Supreme Court nach Washington, um gegen George W. Bush zu klagen. Bernhard gibt dabei auf sie acht. Und Rabiye bringt ihn zum Lachen. Mit Herz und Seele. Mit letzter Kraft. Und am Ende geschieht, was niemand mehr für möglich hält.
