Главный герой — неуклюжий и чудаковатый старший детектив отдела по расследованию убийств Терри Сиэтл. В каждом эпизоде Терри занимается расследованием убийства, в котором ему помогает приглашенная звезда. На первый взгляд кажется, что все просто: детектив занимается своей непосредственной работой, а приглашенная звезда пробует себя в роли его напарника, помогая главному герою найти убийцу. Загвоздка заключается в том, что знаменитость не получает сценария, поэтому импровизирует.
