The film's title highlights the magnificent Russian amphibious war tank the PT-76, used in this battle and named "Pippa" in Punjabi slang - akin to an empty tin of ghee that smoothly floated on water. The film traces the coming-of-age of a young Mehta and India, as both stepped up to prove themselves in a war for the liberation of another country. This battle paved the path for India's triumph as Mehta led his troops to victory. It was with this battle, which took place in Garibpur, that India for the first time infiltrated and entered enemy land, thus leading to the formation of Bangladesh.
