This is a two-part show totaling 3 hours of seriously-entertaining entertainment.



The movie is based on the Terry Pratchett book by the same name.



IMDB: It's Hogswatch (equivalent to Christmas) on the Discworld and the Hogfather has gone missing, requiring Death to take his place while his granddaughter Susan endeavors to find out what has happened.



I watched Hogfather last Christmas and really liked it.



Chief Bad Guy Marc Warren is so good at being bad. If you have seen "Life on Mars (2006) UK", you know. If you haven't watched "Life on Mars", you're missing out.







This actress (Michelle Dockery) was in a fairly popular British drama a few years back.







Hogfather himself (itself?) has a different take on the traditional look.

What big eyes, right? A few years after making "Homecoming" she starred in "Alita: Battle Angel".

This video's IMDB rating is a full point lower than the HTTYD videos. That's a lot. I think Mammoth's rating should be higher, but that's just, like, my opinion, man. Maybe it's lower because people don't like Ray Romano (who I like a lot, contrarian as usual).



I find Mammoth really funny. It's more Christmasy than the HTTYD videos. Heck, it's about the invention of Christmas traditions. Like Klaus. PLUS, it has

This was one of my favorite Christmas movie discoveries, about three Christmases ago.



Aloysius T. McKeever is an expert squatter, spending the winter occupying a NYC mansion and wearing their expensive clothes while the owners are someplace warm. He's a generous man and invites a stranger who needs a place to come join him. You'll probably recognize him as Ozzie and Harriet's nextdoor neighbor:







The female lead is the daughter of the rich owners but she poses as another squatter.







The community grows. Romance happens. Tension builds when the owners find out about the squatters. As all good Christmas movies do, it ends with everyone happy with each other, futures set up nicely, and family members growing closer.



This movie is my #2 recommendation for Part 2, after after #1 "Love Actually (2003) Mini-Sequel - Red Nose Day Actually IMDB=7.1", discussed below.

This is a VERY FAITHFUL recreation of "It's a Wonderful Life". This illustrates HOW faithful:







Indeed, that is Malcolm's Grandma, the late great Cloris Leachman as the angel. She lives on in cinema and in my heart.



Marlo Thomas is very good in the Jimmy Stewart role.









They got Count Rugen to play her brother Harry.







I don't think Orson Welles is as good as Lionel Barrymore's Potter, but he's plenty good.

This is a gritty WWI trench warfare movie. On Christmas Eve, the two sides (German vs French and Scottish) come together for a field church service. The next day they bury their dead who had been too difficult to reach during the fighting. Powerful stuff. It's at Christmas time and there are Christmas moments but mostly not. Based on a real event. Not for kids.

Cute comedy with Amy Smart, who is also great in Part 1's "12 Dates of Christmas." Ryan Reynolds and she are best friends in high school, where he was quite chubby. A decade or two go by. Now he's attractive to look at but he's oh-so-stuck in the friend zone. It's a Christmas movie, so there's a happy ending. I laughed a lot.

Why is Klaus so appealing? I'm not sure. Tell me, please.



IMO, Rise of the Guardians is the 21st century's 3rd great animated Christmas (arguably) movie. Part 3.

One of the 5 movies in the collection with a Groundhog Day plot, repeating a day over and over. The excellent "12 Days of Christmas" is another (I like that movie and think you will too, that's why I push it).



IMDB: Lacy, a career-driven business woman, goes to a B&B in Illinois at the advice of a new therapist. There she finds herself stuck in a mystical, small Christmas town, reliving the same day over and over. Lacy must figure out how to escape.

The mini-sequel is my #1 recommendation. Red Nose Day is an annual fund-raising event in England. The video takes place 13 years after the movie. We see a lot of beloved characters. Not Emma Thompson or Alan Rickman, unfortunately.



I enjoy watching kids turn into adults.







Yes, that's the little girl who belted out "All I Want For Christmas Is You" in the movie, and the drummer boy who loved her.



The music video starts fifteen seconds in. It might not be suitable for young children. There are two versions, one full screen with poorer quality video, the other smaller and sharper.

Every movie folder has a file named "IMDB". It's actual name is "IMDB.url". If you are on Windows, then double-clicking that file will bring you to the moviee's IMDB page. I don't know what it does on other operating systems.



If you like to have subtitles, "EngSubs" means the movie has English subtitles, "Multisub" means it has English (probably) and a number of other languages. I tried hard to find subtitles, using VLC's View -> VLSub feature. If I didn't find subtitles, they might be available by some other means.



If you are on Windows, then I strongly recommend that you install Voidtool's Everything search utility.

All of the videos have 3 genres and 3 actors after their name and IMDB rating.



Actors are identified by their name with the space removed, e.g. "Barbara Stanwyck" is written as BarbaraStanwyck. This convention avoids false positive when you search for an actor's name, e.g. because "Fred Barbara" is immediately followed by "Stanwyck Van Dorfalot". Ms. Stanwyck has 3 movies in this collection, by the way. ALL highly recommended.

The quoted path limits Everything to searching that path. Needless to say, change it to your path LOL.



You need to keep the path SHORT because the folder names are long. If subtitles aren't loading for you, then your path is probably too long.



If "Crime" movies are your thing, search for:



"H:TG 12-1 UPDATEDChristmas Movies" crime



to find the 12 movies in the Crime genre.



You can apply more than one search term. If you like funny romance movies, for example:



"H:TG 12-1 UPDATEDChristmas Movies" comedy romance



will find the 30 movies with both of those genre tags. By default Everything ANDs the tags. Use the || operator if you want to OR them:



> "H:TG 12-1 UPDATEDChristmas Movies" comedy || romance



That will find all of the videos with the comedy OR romance genres, including those with both.



I have tried to identify Hallmark and Lifetime movies as such, but it was a manual process which means I probably erred. If you see the genre "TVMovie", then it might be one of those.



I manually added a few tags.



"Angel" identifies movies with an angel. There are at least 6 in the collection. If I missed some, please comment to that effect.



"GroundhogDayPlot" identifies 5 movies which repeat an interval like Bill Murray's Groundhog Day.



"TimeTravel" identifies movies that ... There are 7 so labelled.



There is ONE "NotForKids" movie, A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas (2011).



My usual process for labelling videos with genres populated 32 videos as "Animations". Looking over the set in Everything, I think that they are all suitable for children, but there are a few I'm unfamiliar with. If you want to check before showing them to your kids, I recommend the site "https://www.commonsensemedia.org/" which gives (IMO) reasonable and believable statements about the age suitability of movies and games etc. (Again, no affiliation).



To give you motivation to install and use the Everything utility, here is a screen shot of my search for "Animation".







From that list, you can right-click -> Open to go to the folder with the video. You can also do control-a (to select all of the videos in the list) then right-click -> Copy or right-click -> Cut, to copy or move the folders to another location, for example if you want to have a folder of ONLY child-suitable movies.



You can use Everything to identify videos with a given IMDB rating, e.g. if you're looking for the best.



"H:TG 12-1 UPDATEDChristmas Movies" "imdb=9 (you'll find only one video)

"H:TG 12-1 UPDATEDChristmas Movies" "imdb=8 (27 videos)

"H:TG 12-1 UPDATEDChristmas Movies" "imdb=7 (115 videos)
