The Twilight Zone

This show is based on Rod Serling's classic TV anthology show, The Twilight Zone. Redoing some episodes and doing new ones 20 years laters after the originals, these are made in color and in one-hour episodes. Most of the episodes contained two or three stories, and were broken up in half hour episodes for syndication. CBS cancelled the show in its second season, but it was picked up by a Canadian producer and aired in syndication in a half-hour format. The show contains mostly ironic or special situations with a twist at the end, which show the human nature, coupled with science fiction, horror or fantasy. Some of the show's writers are well known: Harlan Ellison, Stephen King, Ray Bradbury, Richard Matheson, Sidney Sheldon and J. Michael Straczynski. The opening and closing music was done by The Grateful Dead.



Not the best quality transfer to DVD I've ever seen, in fact it wouldn't surprise me if this is a straight transfer from VHS to DVD with very little done to it. There were no subtiles on the DVD. Couldn't find a release of this anywhere, so made my own copies. Season 2 DVD's are all over the place with the episode order, so I have numbered these based on the episode details from IMDb. Maybe one day the 1980's seasons will be cleaned up and released on Blu-ray like they did with the 1960's seasons, but until then, this is all there is...



Season 2 Episode 1 - The Once and Future King/A Saucer of Loneliness

"The Once and Future King": Elvis impersonator Gary Pitkin finds himself transported back to Elvis' time after a car accident. "A Saucer of Loneliness": Shy, lonely Margaret receives a private message from a flying saucer.



Season 2 Episode 2 - What Are Friends For?/Aqua Vita

"What Are Friends For?": Alex Mattingly wonders whether his son Jeff's new friend Mike is real or imaginary. "Aqua Vita": Television newscaster Christie Copperfield discovers a fountain of youth in the form of bottled water and takes a liking to it, but then the price rises.



Season 2 Episode 3 - The Storyteller/Nightsong

"The Storyteller": Adolescent Micah Frost keeps his great-great-great-grandfather alive by making up serialized stories that continue night after night. "Nightsong": Disc jockey Andrea Fields plays an obscure record made by her lost lover Simon Locke, who mysteriously reappears after a long absence.

"The After Hours": Marsha Cole detects shadowy figures and mysterious voices around her during a trip to a local shopping mall. "Lost and Found": College student Jennifer Templeton finds out why her possessions have been vanishing.

Would-be inventor Barney Schlessinger is bored with his life until he meets another inventor in a parallel world.



Season 2 Episode 5 - The Toys of Caliban

Elderly Ernie Ross and his wife Mary live in fear of their son Toby, who has the magical ability to turn any imagined item into reality.



Season 2 Episode 6 - The Convict's Piano

Ricky Frost has been wrongly convicted of murder and sent to prison, but his musical talent might see him free if he continues to play a certain piano.



Season 2 Episode 7 - The Road Less Travelled

Vietnam-era draft dodger Jeff McDowell sees something familiar about a wheelchair-bound man who has appeared in his house unexpectedly.



Season 2 Episode 8 - The Card/The Junction

"The Card": Severe penalties await shopper Linda Wolfe when she fails to pay her credit card bills on time. "The Junction": John Parker and Ray Dobson are trapped inside the local mine. But when one is rescued, the other disappears.



Season 2 Episode 9 Part1 - Joy Ride/Private Channel

"Joy Ride": A joy ride is disrupted by the car's dead owner. "Private Channel":A mishap turns airline flier Keith Barnes' radio into a mind-reading device.



Season 2 Episode 9 Part2 - Shelter Skelter

At the onset of a nuclear war, Harry Dobbs and Nick Gatlin race to a fallout shelter and soon face cabin fever.



Season 2 Episode 10 Part1 - Time and Teresa Golowitz

Offered any wish by the Devil, musician Bluestone travels back in time as he regretted not doing before.



Season 2 Episode 10 Part2 - Voices in the Earth

Professor Donald Knowles returns to Earth with other expedition members and is affected by the Earthlings of centuries earlier.



Season 2 Episode 11 Part1 - Song of the Younger World

In the early 20th century, reform school inmate Tanner Smith tempts fate by falling in love with puritanical Warden Mordecai Hawkline's daughter Amy.



Season 2 Episode 11 Part2 - The Girl I Married

Middle-aged corporate lawyer Ira Richman misses young Valerie, the girl he married twenty years ago and is surprised to see her materialize.
