Tratto da un racconto dello scrittore del brivido per eccellenza, La tomba di Ligeia mette in scena tutte le ossessioni che hanno attraversato il ciclo Corman-Poe: tormenti sentimentali, presenze demoniache, interni angoscianti e atmosfere gotiche.



Filmed in England, it is Roger Corman's last film inspired by the works of Edgar Allan Poe: the first was The Quick and the Dead in 1960. Based on a story by the writer of horror par excellence, The Tomb of Ligeia stages all the obsessions that crossed the Corman-Poe cycle: sentimental torments, demonic presences, distressing interiors and gothic atmospheres.

Siamo in Inghilterra, ai primi decenni del XIX secolo. Sir Verden Fell, dopo la morte della moglie Ligeia, vive solo con il vecchio domestico Kendrick nella parte ancora abitabile di una fatiscente abbazia. Uno strano incubo pesa sulle misteriose rovine e sui suoi due abitanti: Ligeia vi è stata sepolta, ma qualcosa di lei sembra ancora sussistere minacciosamente.







Some years after having buried his beloved wife Ligea, Verden Fell meets and eventually marries the lovely Lady Rowena. Fell is something of a recluse, living in a small part of a now ruined Abbey with his manservant Kenrick as the only other occupant. He remains infatuated with his late wife and is convinced that she will return to him.
