Meet Seed

The dog who finds things

Seed started out as a police dog in München. A German shepherd with the best nose on the force. Kids lost in the crowds at the Oktoberfest, keys dropped in the Englischer Garten, a suitcase gone missing at the Hauptbahnhof: if it could be found, Seed found it.

Then München moved online. People stopped losing their keys and started losing other things. The film they half remembered. The album that vanished from every store. The game from their childhood that nobody sells any more. The force swapped its dogs for drones, and Seed got a desk job he hated.

So he walked out. A back-alley mechanic fixed him up. He got a visor that reads a billion file names a second, and an implant ear that hears which files are still alive in the swarm. The jaw plate is from a fight with a spam bot he doesn't talk about. The scar is from that night too.

Now he works the network. He growls at fakes, he bites malware, and he doesn't stop until the thing you're looking for turns up. When it does, you'll catch him grinning.

Out on the network they call him Seed, because that's what he does: he keeps things alive for the next person who comes looking.

When a page breaks, he's on that too. Sometimes he just needs a nap.
