In the Quad, a planetary system on the brink of a bloody interplanetary class war, a fun loving trio of bounty hunters attempt to remain impartial as they chase deadly warrants.
La serie, narra le vicende di una squadra di cacciatori di taglie, detti Killjoy, che operano in un sistema planetario remoto chiamato Quad, composto da un pianeta nano e le sue tre lune. Il sistema è agitato da lotte di classe intestine tra le quali si divincolano questi cacciatori di taglie, rispondenti al RAC (Reclamation Apprehension Coalition), organo super partes il cui compito è supervisionare gli importanti compiti dei Killjoy, che possono andare dal semplice recupero di oggetto (Mandati di livello 1) fino all’uccisione di pericolosi soggetti (Mandati di livello 5).
Ai Killjoy tutto è permesso purché in nome del Mandato. Non importa chi li ingaggi o quale sia la missione, l’unica legge sembra essere quello che poi è il loro motto:
