Załoga złożona z różnej maści naukowców i odkrywców wchodzi na pokład supernowoczesnego statku i wyrusza na poszukiwania obcych form życia, które mogą być ostatnią nadzieją dla zagrożonej zagładą ludzkości. Jednak im dalej w nieznane, tym więcej tajemniczych i śmiertelnie groźnych wydarzeń zagraża życiu załogi i powodzeniu całego przedsięwzięcia. Na pokładzie statku panuje napięta atmosfera wynikająca z braku wzajemnego zaufania. Każdy stara się ustalić, kto — lub co — jest przyczyną nieustannych problemów.
