The unusually high bitrate is due to the Source's extreme noise.
Stronger denoising isn't possible without deviating from the movie's style (and making Don Corleone look like a wax figure), while lower bitrates significantly reduce sharpness in dark scenes.
These settings are the result of 2 weeks of experimentation. Suffice it to say, I'm not looking forward to Parts 2 & 3.
