Note : Fulfilling a recurring request, I hadn't seen this vampire horror comedy, but man, the 80s were pretty crazy. The budget for green and magenta gels alone on this production was probably through the roof. It doesn't quite work for me, the comedy is a bit too broad, and the horror stuff isn't scary at all (nor does it really try to be), but it has a lot of fun little touches, like the vampire familiar strip club MC who dreams of moving the whole show to Vegas, and, hey, Grace Jones. And Michelle Pfeiffer's sister, for some reason. Apparently, this film was a major inspiration for From Dusk Till Dawn, which is kind of obvious when you watch it.

In one hectic day, fraternity pledges Keith and AJ go through a mock gothic castle execution, then promise the fratboys to get a stripper for a party, pressure a rich Asian student who desperately wants to be cool to lend them his car to go to the nearby city to hire a stripper (said student decides to come along), get into a brawl with an albino street gang, end up at a vampire strip club where a waitress seems to already know them, have sex with Grace Jones, get turned into vampires (well some of them), burn down the strip club, and, well, that's not all that happens during these 24 hours.

This remaster hasn't been cleaned or touched up very much, but it'll do, the soundtrack likewise, and the two commentary tracks are amusing enough. Not a perfect release, but probably as much as this film is every going to get.
