Nel 1693, a Salem, le tre sorelle Sanderson, Winifred (Bette Midler, la maggiore), Mary (Kathy Najimy) e Sarah (Sarah Jessica Parker, la minore), rapiscono la piccola Emily Binx e le succhiano la linfa vitale per ridiventare di nuovo giovani. 300 anni dopo, nella notte di Halloween, il giovane Max (Omri Katz), sua sorella Dani (Thora Birch) e la loro amica Allison (Vinessa Shaw) si intrufolano nella casa delle tre streghe e, come aveva predetto Winifred, un vergine (Max) accende una candela che riporta in vita le tre che cercano di cucinare Dani, ma i tre con Binx (ancora vivo) prendono il libro di stregoneria di Winifred e scappano nel cimitero dove le streghe non possono mettere piede.
