The Kill Team, il film diretto da Dan Krauss, racconta la storia di Adam Winfield (Nat Wolff), un giovane soldato americano inviato in Afghanistan con una squadra di commilitoni con l'obiettivo d'intercettare le cellule terroristiche sul territorio. Il plotone è sotto la guida del sergente Deeks (Alexander Skarsgård), che sin dal primo momento inculca nella mente dei suoi sottoposti pensieri errati, spingendoli a uccidere, violentare e abusare della gente del posto senza un motivo preciso, se non per puro passatempo e proprio diletto. Il comandante trasforma i suoi uomini in brutali carnefici, tranne Adam, che intuisce sin da subito che il pensiero di supremazia di Deeks è errato. Questa visione disumana della guerra porterà il soldato a dover affrontare un duro dilemma morale: denunciare o no il comportamento del sergente?
