О фильме: В нью-йоркской общине хасидских евреев случилось экстраординарное происшествие: исчез молодой человек по имени Якоб Клаусман. Одновременно пропали алмазы на сумму 720000 долларов. Ни раввин, ни другие члены общины и не думают подозревать Якоба в краже и бегстве; и то, и другое противоречит писаным и неписаным законам жизни хасидских евреев. Правда, в полицию им всё-таки пришлось обратиться, а потому к расследованию приступил опытный детектив - офицер полиции по имени Эмили.
